Multiverse, Braga

The challenge I put myself for 2016 was to photograph Braga (my hometown) in a different way. It is difficult to photograph what you already know so well and therefore has become boring... This project has inspiration from four keywords, with several backgrounds and influences in my life (art, beliefs, health, science…):

1 – (un)realities: This series consist of multi-exposures, once more playing with space-time. Each final image contains 30-50 photos of the same place with slight camera movements (rotation, zoom, angle, etc.), representing two views: (i) The fact that I have seen all those places thousand times, but always from a different perspective (we always see new things). (ii) All of us see and understand the world from a different perspective… what may be real for me may not be for you!

2 – Multiverse: "hypothetical group of all possible universes. Parallel universe (fiction), fictional interpretations mainly used in science fiction and speculative fiction."

3 – Impressionism: "refused an academic painting, defending an outdoor painting, banishing the black from the palette, applying the colour in small strokes that intended to transmit pure sensations of colour, light and movement... Artists seek to fix fugitive impressions more than the permanent aspects of nature. To give the luminous involvement that incessantly modifies the objects, they proceeded by juxtaposition of hard tones that merge at distance in the retina.

4 – Myopia: is an eye disease characterised by poor vision at long distances. This is due to a convergence defect of the light rays, which causes an image of distant objects to form in front of the retina, rather than in the retina itself.
